Choosing the Right Reseller Package

MXroute offers two types of subscriptions suitable for resellers: Reseller Plans and Large Storage Subscriptions (LSS). Both include unlimited domains and unlimited email accounts. The only meaningful difference is how storage is allocated and how client accounts are isolated from one another.

Reseller Plans (75GB, 150GB, 200GB)

Reseller plans are the foundation of a true reselling operation. As a reseller, you get your own admin panel where you can create individual accounts for each of your clients. Each client gets their own isolated login and manages only their own domain(s).

The key advantages of reseller plans are:

Client isolation. Each client account is completely separate. If one client commits a serious policy violation, only their account is affected. Your other clients are not impacted.

Hard per-domain storage cap of 200GB. No single client can consume more than 200GB regardless of what you promise them.

Large Storage Subscriptions (LSS, 100GB to 1TB)

LSS plans are standard email hosting subscriptions, not reseller accounts. Resellers with an active reseller subscription can white-label them for individual clients through their admin panel. LSS plans are available from 100GB to 1TB in 100GB increments, making them suitable for clients with significant storage needs that exceed the 200GB reseller cap.

Web developers and managed service providers who fully manage email on behalf of their clients can place multiple clients on a single LSS plan to reduce costs. However, all clients on a single subscription share the same environment. A severe policy violation by any one client could result in the entire subscription being suspended, affecting all clients on it. For this reason, LSS plans are best used as dedicated single-client subscriptions unless you are fully managing and vouching for every client on the plan.

If you are building a reselling business with multiple clients, start with a reseller plan. If you have a specific client whose needs exceed 200GB, add a dedicated LSS subscription for that client.

When in doubt, start smaller and expand. It is easier to add a new subscription than to migrate clients between servers later.
