Understanding Disk Usage
Open the Control Panel through Management → Subscriptions → Open control panel for the intended Active service. See Using the Control Panel if you need help finding the account or domain.
Identify storage usage
- On Dashboard, click View Details in the disk-usage area.
- Review Overall Usage, Usage by Category, and their update times.
- Under Email Account Usage, choose a domain or All domains, then click Filter.
- Identify the mailboxes using the most space.
- To reduce usage, remove unneeded messages through webmail or an email client, including retained trash where applicable, then check again after usage updates.
Usage is updated daily, so removing messages may not immediately change the displayed totals.
For some customers, usage figures can appear inconsistent across different displays. These inconsistencies negatively affect only a very small subset of customers under specific conditions. Third-party software that we're working to replace has made accurate, consistent reporting far more difficult than it should be. We're actively working to resolve these differences and make usage reporting consistent across all displays.
A displayed grace-period deadline belongs to that account's current state; do not assume every account receives the same grace period.
For resellers, the dashboard may show combined usage across the reseller and customers, while Disk Usage breaks down the currently viewed individual account. Use Reseller → Manage Users → Login as user to inspect a customer's breakdown.
Changing a mailbox quota does not increase the hosting service's total storage. To increase an existing service's capacity, see Changing your plan.
