Spam Filters and Sender Lists

Open the Control Panel through Management → Subscriptions → Open control panel for the intended Active service. See Using the Control Panel if you need help finding the account or domain.

Adjust Filter Strength

  1. Open Spam Filters and select the domain.
  2. Read the current Filter Strength label.
  3. Move the slider toward More Filtering for stricter filtering or Less Filtering for a more permissive threshold.
  4. For an exact value, expand Advanced Settings and enter High Score Threshold, an integer from 1 to 50.
  5. Click Save Settings.
  6. Check the success message and review the saved value after reloading.

Lower numerical scores mean more aggressive filtering. The current recommended score is 15. Set Recommended, when shown, selects that value; you must still save. If the button is not shown, set 15 in the numeric field and save.

These are SpamAssassin settings for the hosting account and selected domain, not per-mailbox controls. The save also updates shared scoring settings, so do not assume other domains in the same account are unaffected. The sender lists below are explicitly account-wide.

The page labels this a rejection threshold. Existing delivery settings also affect how scored mail is handled, so changing the threshold alone does not select a universal reject, delete, or Junk-folder action. A Custom label can reflect existing policy differences. This page does not provide a quarantine or recovery of rejected or discarded messages.

Add trusted or blocked senders

  1. Open Spam Filters → Manage Lists under Whitelist & Blacklist.
  2. Under Add New Entry, enter a full sender address or supported pattern in Email Address or Pattern.
  3. Choose Whitelist (Trusted) or Blacklist (Blocked) in Add to.
  4. Click Add Entry.
  5. Confirm the entry appears in the appropriate list.

Use a full sender address such as friend@example.net, or *@example.net to match senders at a specific domain. Keep the domain after @ complete: SpamAssassin does not properly process entries with * after @. Exact addresses with + or = in the local part are accepted.

These lists apply across the hosting account's domains. Use broad patterns sparingly and keep lists small.

A whitelist entry is not a universal bypass of every protection layer, and a blacklist entry is not a guaranteed SMTP-level rejection. These are sender-list inputs to spam processing. Domain-wide Expert Spam Filtering is a separate control.

Remove a sender-list entry

  1. Open Spam Filters → Manage Lists.
  2. Find the entry in the whitelist or blacklist, using its search box and pagination as needed.
  3. Click the entry's Delete icon.
  4. Check both the entry and list name in Confirm Deletion, then click Delete.
  5. Confirm the entry has been removed.

For the separate network-reputation filter and its forwarding restrictions, see Expert Spam Filtering. A sender-list entry does not replace the whitelist-request process described there.
