Email Clients and Webmail

Open the Control Panel through Management → Subscriptions → Open control panel for the intended Active service. See Using the Control Panel if you need help finding the account or domain.

Open a mailbox with one-click webmail

  1. Open Email Accounts and select the domain.
  2. Find the mailbox.
  3. Click the icon titled Open Webmail.
  4. The panel opens a one-click Roundcube session for that mailbox.

If the server cannot provide one-click login, use Email Clients to find the server's webmail URL and sign in with the full mailbox address and its password.

  1. Open Email Clients.
  2. Choose the server-specific Webmail link if you need access before configuring the domain's MX records.
  3. Alternatively, use the webmail.mxroute.com link when the required MX records are configured.
  4. Sign in with the full mailbox address and its mailbox password.

Do not assume the server-specific webmail, one-click Roundcube, and central webmail links all open the same application or share all features.

Set up a desktop or mobile email client

  1. Create the mailbox first and open Email Clients.
  2. Copy Server Hostname. Use it for both incoming and outgoing mail unless you have separately configured and verified a custom mail hostname.
  3. Add an IMAP account in your email application.
  4. Use the full mailbox address as the username and the mailbox password.
  5. Set incoming IMAP to port 993 with SSL/TLS.
  6. Set outgoing SMTP to port 465 with SSL/TLS, with authentication enabled using the mailbox credentials.
  7. Save the account and test both sending and receiving.

Other encrypted options displayed by the panel:

ServicePortSecurity
IMAP143STARTTLS
POP3995SSL/TLS
POP3110STARTTLS
SMTP587STARTTLS
SMTP2525STARTTLS

Use IMAP for normal multi-device synchronization. Choose POP3 only when you intend its download behavior and understand the client's message-retention settings. A panel password or API key is not a substitute for the mailbox password.

For platform-specific help, see iOS Mail and Microsoft Outlook. Use Custom Hostnames before substituting your own IMAP/SMTP hostname. In-house webmail branding has its own setup.
