Email Forwarders

DANGER

Unless MXroute staff directly linked you to this article and this article only, this article is not finished and is expected to be incorrect. You should be using mxroutedocs.com and not our staging docs.mxroute.com site just like it says on the front page of this docs.mxroute.com site.

Email forwarders allow you to automatically redirect emails from one address to another. This is useful for creating aliases or ensuring you never miss important emails.

Creating a Forwarder

  1. Log into DirectAdmin
  2. Navigate to "Forwarders" under "E-mail Manager"
  3. Click "Create E-mail Forwarder"
  4. Fill in:
    • New Forwarder Name (the address that will receive emails)
    • Add Destination (where emails should be forwarded to)
    • Use the "Add" button to specify multiple destination addresses if needed
  5. Click "Create"

WARNING

Do not use the "Pipe" option in the forwarding destination list as this feature will be removed in a future update.

Managing Forwarders

  • View existing forwarders
  • Delete forwarders when no longer needed
  • Update destination addresses

Best Practices

  1. Regularly review your forwarders
  2. Test forwarders after creation
  3. Be cautious with forwarding chains to avoid loops
  4. Consider spam filtering implications
