Email Server Settings (SMTP, IMAP, POP3)

This guide helps you locate your email server connection details for configuring email clients with your MXroute account.

Finding Your Server Information

Check Your "Important Account Information" Email

When you first signed up for MXroute, you received an email titled "Important Account Information" containing all necessary server details. This is the most reliable and definitive source for your connection information.

If you can't find this email:

  1. Log in to the MXroute Client Area
  2. Navigate to Email History
  3. Locate and view the "Important Account Information" email

If you still cannot locate this information, please open a support ticket and the team will assist you.

Once you have your server name, use the following settings to configure your email client:

Your server hostname will be in this format:

Common Issues and Solutions

  • Ensure you're using the correct port (465 recommended)
  • Check that SSL/TLS is enabled
  • Confirm your username is your full email address
  • Verify your password is correct
  • Some ISPs block port 25; try port 465 or 587 (Submission port) instead

Can't Receive Email

  • Verify your IMAP/POP3 server name is correct
  • Ensure you're using the correct port (993 for IMAP, 995 for POP3)
  • Check that SSL/TLS is enabled
  • Confirm your username is your full email address

Connection Timeouts

  • Your ISP might be blocking the required ports
  • Try alternative ports (587 or 2525 for SMTP)
  • Consider using a VPN if all ports are blocked

Migrating From Another Email Provider

When migrating from another email provider to MXroute:

  1. Add your MXroute account as a new account in your email client
  2. Keep both accounts active during the transition
  3. Update your DNS records according to MXroute instructions
  4. Wait for DNS propagation (up to 24-48 hours)
  5. Once mail is flowing to your MXroute account, you can optionally remove the old account

For detailed migration instructions, see our Migration Guide.

SSL Certificate Warnings

If you receive SSL certificate warnings:

  1. Verify you're using the correct server name
  2. Ensure your device's date and time are accurate
  3. Update your email client to the latest version
  4. Check if your email client trusts Let's Encrypt certificates (most modern clients do)

If warnings persist, please open a support ticket with details about your email client and the specific warning message.
