Adding Users to Your Reseller Account
After setting up your packages, you can start adding users to your MXroute reseller account. This guide walks you through the process of creating new user accounts for your customers.
Prerequisites
Before adding users, ensure that:
- You have an active MXroute reseller account
- You have created at least one package that defines the resources available to users
Adding a New User
Step 1: Access the User Creation Interface
- Log in to your DirectAdmin reseller control panel
- In the top navigation, hover over the Account Manager menu
- Select Add New User from the dropdown menu
Step 2: Complete the User Information Form
Fill out the following required fields:
Field | Description | Requirements |
---|---|---|
Username | Login name for the customer | Must be unique across the entire server |
Contact email for the customer | Used for account notifications | |
Password | DirectAdmin access password | Should be strong and secure |
Domain | First domain for the account | Cannot be left blank |
User Package | Resource package to assign | Must be created beforehand |
IP | Server IP address | Typically only one option available |
Step 3: Email Notification Setting
The form includes an Email Notification option, but please note:
- This option is suppressed on the MXroute back-end
- Email notifications for new accounts will not be sent automatically
- You will need to communicate account details to your customers directly
Step 4: Create the Account
After completing all required fields, click the SUBMIT button to create the new user account.
After Creating a User
Once a user is created:
- The new account will be immediately active
- The user can log in to DirectAdmin with the provided credentials
- You can manage the user account through your reseller control panel
- The user will have access to the resources defined in their assigned package
Managing Existing Users
To manage existing users or modify their accounts:
- Navigate to Account Manager in DirectAdmin
- Select Manage Users to view all your created accounts
- From there, you can modify user settings, change packages, or suspend accounts as needed
Important Considerations
- Username Uniqueness: If your chosen username already exists on the server, you'll need to select another one
- Domain Configuration: After creating the account, the user will need to configure their domain's MX records to use the service
- Communication: Since automated notifications are disabled, ensure you have a process to securely communicate login credentials to your customers
- Password Management: Consider implementing a secure method for generating and sharing initial passwords
