Creating Reseller Packages
As an MXroute reseller, you can create custom service packages for your customers. This guide explains how to set up packages that align with your business model and customer needs.
Understanding Package Allocation
MXroute's reseller system allows for flexible resource allocation:
- You can oversell your total purchased storage by creating packages that collectively exceed your total allocation
- This works because not all customers will use their full allocation
- You're responsible for managing the overall usage to stay within your reseller account limits
Creating a New Package
- Log in to your DirectAdmin reseller account
- Navigate to the Account Manager menu
- Select Manage User Packages
- Click the ADD PACKAGE button
Package Configuration Settings
When creating a package, you'll need to configure these key settings:
Resource Allocations
Setting | Recommendation |
---|---|
Bandwidth | Unlimited (recommended) |
Disk Space | Set according to your pricing tiers |
Domains | Number of domains allowed per account |
Email Accounts | Number of email accounts allowed per domain |
MySQL Databases | Set to "Unlimited" (recommended) |
Feature Settings
The following features are recommended for email service packages:
- Catch-All E-mail: Enable this option (recommended)
- SSL Access: Enable this option (recommended)
- Skin: Set to "Evolution" (recommended)
- Feature Sets: Leave as "Allow All" (recommended)
- Plugins Allow/Deny: Leave as "Allow All" (recommended)
Additional Options
You can also configure:
- Domain Pointers: Number allowed per account
- FTP Accounts: Number allowed per account
- Other web hosting related settings (can be minimized for email-focused service)
Managing Your Packages
- You can create multiple packages with different resource allocations
- Each package can be assigned to different customers
- Packages can be modified after creation if needed
- You can delete packages that are no longer in use
Best Practices
- Create packages that reflect your pricing tiers
- Monitor overall disk usage across all your customers
- Consider creating specialized packages for different customer needs (e.g., personal vs. business)
- Review and adjust package settings periodically based on customer usage patterns
